Frost is still a problem for some Hudson Water Utility customers
River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

The frost is so deep this spring that Hudson Water Utility Director Tim Caruso is asking homeowners who have been told to keep a pencil-size stream of water running from a faucet to continue to do so through Easter Sunday, April 20.

“We have gone around to areas that we know have issues, there is still ice in those lines,” Caruso said in an email to the Star-Observer.

A month ago, Water Utility workers were busy thawing out as many as six to eight frozen water lines a day.

Almost all of the freeze-ups were occurring in the service lines extending from water mains beneath street right-of-ways to homes and other buildings.

Caruso said at the time that the frost was as deep as eight feet beneath bare streets and sidewalks. It was deep enough in some places to freeze service lines.
