Garrit Mack Ye, devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa, 77, of River Falls, Wis., Sedona, Ariz., and Minneapolis, Minn., had a peaceful end to his struggle with Alzheimer's and heart disease on Sunday, April 21.
He was the son of Garrit and Sara Ye of Minneapolis. He grew up in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood together with his younger brother, Paul, who survives him. His active and industrious nature led to an amazing variety of occupations and pursuits:
Engineering student; USAF B-29 pilot; dentist, first in the public health service at an Apache Indian reservation in Arizona and later in private practice in Minneapolis; Hereford cattleman; and skilful and profuse builder, variously constructing and/or renovating nine houses, cabins and farms during his fruitful lifetime.
Garrit was a devoted husband to his wife, Benita, who died in 1996, and a loving dad to his three children, Greg (Karen), Corey, Gretchen (Daniel).
Garrit's grandchildren, Kaitlin, Tomas, Barbora, Evan, Isaac and Caroline, will all miss his playful and hearty laugh.
A funeral service was held on Monday, April 28, at 4 p.m. at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls.
