Girl injured in town road mishap
A teen-age girl avoided serious injury Friday when slippery road conditions led to a single-car accident on Badlands Road.
The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department said Clarissa A. Frase, 17, Hudson, was driving west on Badlands Road at about 10 p.m. when she failed to make the curve near Polen Drive.
The road was slippery due to recent frost. Frase crossed the intersection at Polen Drive in her 1997 Saturn and entered the south ditch. The car struck several trees as it rolled down a steep bank and landed in a ravine, the accident report said.
She was wearing a seat belt, but was trapped in the car and had to be extricated. She was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with apparent leg and shoulder injuries.
In an e-mail message to the Star-Observer Monday, Clarissa's father, Michael Frase, said, "It is unbelievable she has no major health issues. She is recovering at home after two days in the hospital."
"The fire crew, EMS, vehicle recovery crew, police and helicopter crew and all support (personnel) were just super," Frase added.
