The Raiders won the Husky Invitational, hosted by Eau Claire North at Wild Ridge Golf Course Aug. 17 and the Big Rivers Conference-Mississippi Valley Conference Challenge last Wednesday at Drugan's Castle Mound in La Crosse.

In between they took second at the New Richmond Invite Aug. 19, and the Old Abe Invite, hosted by Eau Claire Memorial at Hillcrest, last Monday.

Head coach Jackie Gunderson said she's pleased with the Raiders' first- and second-place showings so far, but said there is room for improvement.

"We realize that a lot of our shots are being lost around the greens. So we are working hard on our short game and course management," she said.

Cassie Wurm paced the Raiders in their first three tournaments of the season, shooting an 88 at Wild Ridge, 86 at New Richmond and 87 at Hillcrest. Molly Fassbinder fired a team-low 81, Wurm carded an 82 and Elli Anderson posted an 87 to lead the Raiders to a season-low score of 361 on their way to first place finish last Wednesday in La Crosse.

"Molly, Cassie and Elli are all returning varsity players and are doing a great job at leading the team in the right direction and guiding our other two players who are playing on the varsity team for the first time this year," Gunderson said, referring to first-year players Leisha Cory and Danni Krinke.

"We will continue to look towards improvement and better scores in each tournament from everyone on the team."

Gunderson said she is very excited about the group of girls on the team.

"I think we have tremendous amounts of talent and ability to take our team far again this year," she said.

After opening BRC play Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Mill Run in Eau Claire, the Raiders will next play at River Falls on Thursday, Sept. 10.
