Hudson's top four players all finished in the top eight at the Big Rivers Conference Golf Tournament Thursday to help the Raiders clinch the BRC title with a one-stroke victory over Eau Claire Memorial at Hillcrest Country Club in Eau Claire.

It's the third straight conference championship for the Raiders, who shared the title the last two years with River Falls.

This year, Hudson picked up 10 tournament points after entering tourney play with 22 to lock up the championship outright with a total of 32 points. Eau Claire Memorial, who was second with 19 points heading into the tournament, picked up eight points Thursday to finish with 27.

Cassie Wurm locked up 2009 BRC Player of the Year honors by firing a second place score of 86 Thursday while Elli Anderson finished fifth with 90 and Molly Fassbinder was sixth with 91. All three players were named to the All-BRC First Team.

Leisha Cory added an eighth place score of 94 to give the Raiders a total team score of 361 while Danni Krinke gave Hudson five scores under 100 with a 99.

Eau Claire Memorial was second Thursday with 362 while River Falls, who took fourth in the conference tournament with a score of 410, managed to hold onto third place in the final BRC standings with 20.5 points. Rice Lake finished third at the conference tournament with a total of 401 and fourth in the final standings with 18.5 points while Eau Claire North, who shot 485 Thursday, finished last with seven points.

The Raiders and the rest of the BRC teams will join Superior and New Richmond at the WIAA Division 1 regional tournament Wednesday (Sept. 30) in New Richmond. The top four teams, and the top four individuals who are not members of qualifying teams, will advance to the sectional tournament Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Mill Run Golf Course in Eau Claire.

The WIAA Girls State Golf Championships are scheduled for Oct. 12-13 at University Ridge in Madison.
