Grant's agent confident on contract deal
Ryan Grant's agent says he's confident he can arrange a long-term contract with the Packers, but both sides will have to give.
Agent Alan Herman says the talks have gotten more substantive and that's a good sign for his client.
Grant's only in his second NFL season, but he's been out of college for three years and Herman says Grant would like some financial security while he's in his peak years as a running back.
Otherwise, he'll be 28 when he first becomes eligible to be an unrestricted free agent in 2011.
Grant was 44 rushing yards short of 1,000 last season and Herman says it should mean a lot.
Technically, Grant has no real contract leverage. If a long-term deal is not in the cards, his only option is to sign a $370,000 minimum tender for a second-year pro.
