Greenwood was down by a run when they scored three in the sixth to seal the victory. Westin Wuethrich struck out 11 in six innings. He also had two singles in three at-bats with a stolen base and two runs scored.

Greenwood takes home the gold ball with a 16-3 record.

B.J. Sabol went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Lake County Lutheran, which ended a 24-5 season as the state runner-up.

The Division 3 championship was being played Thursday afternoon between Oconto and Westby. That's being followed by the Division 2 final between Green Bay Notre Dame and Lodi, and the Division 1 title contest between defending champion Sun Prairie and Stevens Point.

Badger transfers to Pitt

A redshirt freshman who was projected to be a starter in the Wisconsin football secondary this fall has reportedly transferred. WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh says safety Reggie Mitchell has been released from his scholarship with Wisconsin and he'll join the Pitt Panthers.

Mitchell, a native of the Pittsburgh, impressed the new Badger coaches during the spring practices. Last month, Wisconsin Coach Gary Andersen said he thought Mitchell would open the season as a starting safety along with Dezmen Southward.

Southward is the only returning Wisconsin starter in the secondary. The Badgers are also looking to replace the departed Shelton Johnson, Devin Smith and Marcus Cromartie.
