You may have noticed the new landscaping running along First Street on the west side of the building of both the library and the police department. The project was completed on Memorial Day weekend following hours of work from multiple people, groups, and organizations aiming to benefit the community.

The retaining wall was built in May by a crew lead by Isaac Yerry. Yerry took on the project to help him earn the title of Eagle Scout. For the project, Yerry had to assemble a crew and help fundraise for the necessary materials.

Following the completion of the wall, the city of Hudson prepared the site for planting and supplied mulch, while members of the St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners Association assisted with plant selection.

Cody Smith, along with a group of Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 148 and a few other friends Smith recruited, took on putting in all of the plants for his Eagle Scout project. They completed the job on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.

The Hudson Home and Garden Club donated funds to prepare the site for the retaining wall and funded the purchase of all plant material. Jane Hanson, co-president of the club, made the final selection and purchase, taught the crew good planting practices and supervised the installation.
