The current supply of H1N1 vaccine is of two types: nasal and injectable. Based on the manufacturer's approvals and the current target groups, the vaccine is available for the following:

  • Pregnant women
  • Persons who live with or provide care for children aged less than 6 months (e.g. parents, siblings and daycare providers)
  • All health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Children aged six months through 24 years, and
  • Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications

The health department said that it expects to receive more vaccine over the coming weeks and they have been informed that there will be enough for everyone over time.

The vaccine will be administered while supplies last. No appointments are necessary and the shots are free.
