Fall Family Fun at Badlands

Haunted House at Casanova Caves

5-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 30 and 31 -- not appropriate for elementary children and younger. Admission $3, $2 with canned food item. Part of proceeds go to breast cancer 3-day walk.

Rotary Parade

55th annual Hudson Rotary Halloween parade, Friday, Oct. 31, at Newton Field, north side of E.P. Rock School, 340 13th St. S. Sign-ups begin at 4 p.m., parade at 4:30. Prizes will be awarded, all children receive treat bags, rain location in school gym.

Reverse trick or treating

At the Malanaphy home, 1331 Third St. Visitors bring a food shelf donation. HHS senior Max Malanaphy hopes other scary houses will participate too by putting out collection boxes; people "vote" for the best decorated house by putting an item in the box -- winner collects the most canned goods (voting often is encouraged). The Malanaphy family will collect the donations and deliver them to the Hudson food shelf.

Harkorville's Haunted Trail

817 Badlands Road (third driveway past Kinney Road), Oct. 31, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; Nov. 1, 8 p.m.-midnight. Walk through haunted woods - for adults and children over 10. Less scary option available for kids. $8/$7 with food shelf donation. www.myspace.com/badlandshauntedtrail.

Christ Center Harvest Party

Christ Center Assembly of God is holding a Harvest Party as an alternative to trick or treating for families. The event is Friday, Oct. 31, at 6:30 p.m., at the church, 810 Northview Drive.

The party includes an evening of family games and activities. Adults and children and are encouraged to dress up and join in the costume contests (no gruesome or evil costumes, or costumes that may encompass themes of witchcraft). Each child will receive a bag of candy prior to leaving in place of the candy they would have gotten trick or treating. For more information, call Christ Center, (715) 386-5441. Everyone is invited to attend. The church is located near the intersection of County UU and Jacobs Lane.
