Milwaukee's Harley-Davidson says it will cut another 1,000 jobs, after its profit for the last quarter plunged by 91 percent.

The famous motorcycle company reports total earnings of almost $20 million from April-June, down from $223 million in the same quarter of 2008.

Revenues fell by 27 percent and Harley's factories said they would ship out fewer motorcycles than expected for the rest of the year.

The total for 2009 will be from 212,000 to 228,000 machines, down from the 303,000 bikes shipped last year.

As a result, Harley said it would have shut-downs and slow-downs at plants in Wauwatosa, Menomonee Falls, Kansas City and York, Penn.

Seven hundred more production workers and 300 salaried employees will be cut, on top of up to 1,800 layoffs that were previously announced for this year and next.
