Help with the crane count on April 17

Since 1976, the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo has held an annual state-wide crane count in early April.

The count is used to monitor the general population trend of Sandhill Cranes in the upper Midwest, as well as to promote awareness of cranes and wetland conservation throughout the count area.

If interested in participating in the Pierce and St. Croix County count of cranes on Saturday, April 17, please call coordinators Keith Bennett, 425-6404 or email him at kbennett@dishmail.net; or Ed Heit, 425-8017, edheit@iglide.net.

An organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at River Falls Public Library to select sites and distribute observation forms and instructions.
