The driver, believed to be a man, and his female passenger, led authorities on a high-speed chase from St. Paul onto eastbound I94 just after 9 p.m. on Sunday.  At times their speed was estimated at 120 miles per hour.

Jensen said Minnesota State Patrol broke off their pursuit of the motorcycle when they took the I94 Exit 1 off ramp into downtown Hudson.

Jensen said his officers did not pursue the vehicle through the heavily trafficked area in the interest of public safety. But within minutes of the vehicle leaving the freeway, HPD was notified of an accident at Third and St. Croix streets.

Police believe the suspect drive lost control of the motorcycle while making the turn from St. Croix Street onto Third Street. The driver and passenger fled the scene on foot heading north. Police searched the area but the suspects were not found.

It is not known if they were injured as a result of the crash.

Jensen said that anyone with information should contact the HPD at (715) 386-4771.
