Hudson firefighters rescue dog, Wednesday evening

Hudson firefighters got a chance to practice their confined space rescue techniques Wednesday evening after a dog had the misfortune of exploring a stormwater outfall and fell into a below-ground collection area.

St. Croix County Dispatch characterized the call as an "animal complaint" on the dispatch log, sending Hudson Fire to 715 Galahad Rd. N., near the Ferry Landing at 6:11 p.m.

A witness said two firefighters were eventually lowered down a manhole to retrieve the dog.
