Hudson girl does well in gym meet
Hudson Middle School sixth-grader and USA Gymnastics level 8 gymnast Kaitlyn Gilson recently competed in the IGI Chicago Style meet in Chicago with her competition team from TCT (Twin City Twisters) of Champlin, Minn. TCT is one of the top-ranked gyms in the nation. With over 4,300 participating gymnasts, the IGI Chicago Style meet is the largest women's gymnastics meet in the world.
In the Saturday afternoon session, TCT earned first-place team honors with a combined score of 113.325 (the team ranked second in the three days of completion involving eight teams. Individually, Gilson took second in the all-around with a career high score of 37.450. Gilson placed 10th on vault with an 8.95, fourth on bars with a 9.40, second on beam with a 9.50 and third on floor with a 9.60.
Individually, Gilson ranked 14th out of the 563 level 8 gymnasts across all sessions and age groups competing throughout the weekend. She has qualified to compete at the USA Gymnastics Minnesota state meet, hosted by Flips Gymnastics, March 31-April 1.
Gilson trained for six years at the Hudson School of Gymnastics, 2760 Enloe St. Owners Seaok An and Hwichil Kim, and coach Megan Lund, provided Gilson with the gymnastics training to be accepted into TCT.
