RAPID CITY, S.D. -- South Dakota School of Mines volleyball head coach Tiffany Mastin announced the recent signing of Cathene Malin as the newest addition to the Lady Hardrocker volleyball program for the 2009 season.

Malin is a 5-foot-10-inch outside hitter from Hudson who played her high school volleyball for the Raiders. She was also a club volleyball standout, honing her skills for the NOMA Stars 18-1 squad in Wisconsin.

"Cathene has great game skills and has tremendous volleyball fundamentals," said Mastin. "Her personality is the type where she wants to excel on and off the court and she will continue to improve and get better as she matures."

After her senior season at the high school level, Malin was an all conference second-team selection, earned her team's Offensive Player of the Year Award and received academic all-conference honors.
