Hudson lawyer pleads guilty to stealing $3 million
A lawyer from Hudson pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to stealing over $3 million in a mortgage fraud scheme.
Jason E. Fischer, 38, admitted diverting funds from an escrow account of the real estate title company that he partially owned. The firm, Real Source Title, has offices in both Hudson and the Twin Cities.
Investigators said Fischer regularly withdrew money from the account to cover personal and business expenses. As a result, buyers, sellers, lenders, and underwriters suffered major financial losses.
A sentencing date was not immediately announced.
