Raider boys' tennis coach Dave Dahl hit the nail on the head when he summed up his team's play at the Wausau West Invitational last Saturday.

"When you win 27 of 28 matches played, it's a pretty good weekend," he said.

The Raiders went 4-0 against Wisconsin Valley foes to improve to 9-0 in dual matches this season. Hudson defeated Wausau Newman and Wausau East by identical 7-0 scores before beating D.C. Everest, 6-1. They ended the day with another 7-0 victory, this time over Wausau West.

Saturday's four victories came a week after the Raiders went 3-0 against WVC teams Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau West at the BRC/MVC Challenge April 14.

"We've taken advantage of a Wisconsin Valley Conference that is a little down this year, but we certainly won't apologize for any of the wins," Dahl said. "All of our guys know they will be pushed harder in matches to come, but we've done a great job early in the season of really taking it to the opposition."

Dahl said 15 players have recorded varsity victories this season, which is an indication of the team's depth.

Saturday in Wausau, Max Hawksford, Jeff Dahl, Sam Duchow, Cal Johnson, Jack Schulte, Max Cherrier and Mitch Karras all posted four wins, while Dan Botethi picked up three.

On the season, Hawksford and Jeff Dahl lead the team with nine victories each while Duchow and Johnson are right behind with eight apiece.

After a make-up match this past Monday against Eau Claire North, the Raiders will visit Menomonie Thursday, April 26 and play at the East Ridge (Minn.) Double Dual Saturday, April 28. They end the month with a dual match at Tartan (Minn.) Monday, April 30, before hosting River Falls Thursday, May 3.

"We've got plenty of business to take care of in the BRC the next couple weeks and some good weekend tournaments ahead," Dahl said. "It will be very important for us to continue to practice well."
