Hudson Senior Center offers meals, social groups, shopping and more
The Hudson Area Senior Center has a lot to offer and they held an open house on Monday to try and get the word out.
Kathy Sveiven is the program manager at the center and Jerry Adams is the president of the board of directors. The programs and activities planned regularly throughout the month are staffed by Sveiven, board members and volunteers and everyone would like to see more people participate.
Located on the Christian Community Home campus at 1320 Wisconsin St., the Hudson Area Senior Center is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Transportation is available to and from the center for meals and senior activities with advanced requests.
Meals are served daily, Monday through Friday, at 11:30 a.m. A $4 donation is suggested but not required. Reservations for meals must be made 24 hours in advance. And home delivered meals are provided Tuesday through Friday. Nutrition services are provided through the Aging and Disability Resource Center of St. Croix County.
A men’s group that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-9:30 a.m. shares coffee and rolls and wisdom along with a game of pool or cards.
Shopping excursions are planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 12:30 p.m. Reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance. There are also blood pressure checks on the third Thursday of every month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. A foot care clinic is held the third Tuesday of every month from 8 a.m.-noon. Call in advance for an appointment.
In additional to daily bingo games, center activities include cards, puzzles, musical entertainment, exercise sessions, Wii games and other outings. And there is always a group birthday party on the second Friday of each month.
