The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office reported a one-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Hudson teen, Taylor J. Casey, 19. The crash occurred at 5:18 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 in the 1600 block of County Road A in the town of Richmond, just south of New Richmond. Casey was driving a 2002 Mercedes Benz SUV southbound on County A. He apparently lost control of the vehicle and it entered the east ditch and rolled over. Casey was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. A passenger, Antonio L Bloomquist, 19, of Hudson was not injured. Casey was not wearing a seatbelt; Bloomquist was wearing a seatbelt.

Both teens are 2012 Hudson High School graduates. In the Star-Observer 2012 graduation tab, Casey was listed as being active in hockey. His memorable events were a pepfest and the mock crash. He listed that he had a job as a “cashier.” He is the son of Terri and Chad Casey.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department. This is the county’s first traffic fatality in 2014.
