James O'Malley, 40
James Thomas "Jim" O'Malley, 40, of Roberts passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born the son of James F. and Tresa (McCarthy) O'Malley on Feb. 14, 1968, on the naval base in Charleston, S.C.
Jim graduated from Hudson High School in 1987. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War.
On May 15, 1999, Jim was united in marriage to Laurie Jean Nowak. They would be blessed with four children; Jim loved being a dad.
He was currently back in school, at WITC in New Richmond, studying for a degree in computers and electronics. Previously, he had enjoyed working at the Kilkarney Golf Course as the superintendant.
Jim could fix almost anything, and he loved to help people. He enjoyed deer hunting. He built and flew remote control airplanes and eventually became a dealer.
Jim is survived by his wife of nine years, Laurie; children, James A. "Jimmy," 7, Adam, 5, Kelly, 3, and Sarah, 2; parents, Jim and Tresa O'Malley; grandmother, Alice O'Malley; sisters, Cathy Western (Wes), Tricia (Darryl) Rongitsch and Shirley O'Malley (Jordan Erdman); mother-in-law, Rosemary (Charles) Helmueller; sisters-in-law, LeeAnne (Robert) Jennings, Mary (Trent) Bennig and Michelle (Matt) Heldstab; five nieces and two nephews; extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:30 a.m. on his birthday, Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at St. Patrick's Parish Cemetery.
Visitation was for one hour prior to the service at church and on Friday, Feb. 13, from 5 until 8 p.m. at O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
