Jesse Michael Duntley, 25
Jesse Michael Duntley, 25, of Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Hudson, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Friday, Sept. 12.
He was the beloved son of John and Jodie Duntley and brother of Janey. Jesse was starting the third year of rebuilding his life following a spinal cord injury.
Jesse was born on Oct. 25, 1982, in Green Bay and grew up in Hudson. He was a 2001 graduate of Hudson High School and completed an associate degree at Brown College in the Twin Cities. He was an avid snowboarder and enthusiastic house music DJ with his own studio space near the U of M.
Jesse survived a critical accident in 2006 that broke his neck and left him paralyzed from the chest down. His year of hospital recovery, several surgeries and his months of rehabilitation at Courage Center brought his true character to a peak. He has been an inspiration to his family and friends with the determination and bravery that he showed in facing his long, steady recovery of strength and ability.
For the past year Jesse has lived independently with the fine care of personal care attendants, especially his current roommate, Ben Tock, and the constant support of many friends and family. He was attending Century College and continuing physical rehab at Courage St. Croix.
Jesse is survived by his parents, John and Jodie Duntley of Hudson; sister, Janey Duntley of Hudson; grandparents, John and Margaret Duntley of Plymouth, Minn.; aunts, uncles and cousins.
