No stranger to coffee and creating the many wonderful variations of it, Harriet Ryan is thrilled to be serving customers again. She has worked at the very same kiosk three different times as well as other coffee shops in the Hudson area. Over the years she has honed her skills as a barista. Ryan and her business partner Steve Bowers purchased the coffee kiosk. After upgrading the equipment and giving it a fresh new look they opened for customers on Aug. 25.

"It felt like a good fit," said Ryan, who loves greeting regular customers.

"We are focusing on organic coffee and milk and the absolute best taste you can get," said Ryan, co-owner of JoeToGo. "We are trying to stay local with our products as well." Ryan and Bowers purchase their organic milk products from a diary in Osceola and Peace Coffee is roasted in Minneapolis.

Specialty drinks with recipes that are unique to JoeToGo are likely to keep customers coming back.

A sample of what is available includes Hawaiian Dream, the Viennese and Hot Scotch Mocha.

"Anything we have here we try to do it right," said Ryan. That applies to drip coffee, real fruit smoothies, teas and soon to be added baked goods. "Our drip coffee is never stale or burnt."

Ryan loves to see her customers as they line up in the morning for their "regular" drinks.

"We are creatures of habit," said Ryan. "That's makes it fun for me to anticipate what they will drinking, so I can start their making their order as soon as I see them pull in line."

For Ryan, her fondness for coffee started at the North Shore Coffee Shop, which was formerly above the bookstore in the building on Walnut Street that now houses Ultimissimo Salon.

"It was always a place that had the feel of a community," said Ryan. "Here I can still see people and create just the right drink for them."

Joe To Go, is open Monday thru Friday from 5:30 a.m. to noon and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
