John Casper Randen, 41

John Casper Randen, 41 of Rockford, Mich., passed away on Saturday June 14, 2008 at his home. 

He was born on December 24, 1966, in Eau Claire, to Steven and Jodean (Sturgis) Randen.

He attended Sam Davey Elementary School in Eau Claire before moving to Hudson in 1977. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1985.

John loved camping and canoeing down the rivers with his uncle Harry. He was right at home playing sports. He was in Little League baseball, soccer and also did refereeing for soccer. John was a member of the Bantam Hockey State Championship Team.

John loved spending time with his special niece and nephew, Brianna and Jared Reed and cousins Ariel and Orion Warden. He also had many special friends in Michigan including his school friends Clay, Mitch, Steve and Casey, who have been there for John all along the way.

John is survived by his father, Steven Randen; his mother, Nancy (Swan) Randen; sister, Barbara (Dan) Reed, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; aunt, Janice (Randen) Warden and uncle, Harry Warden of Rock Falls; aunt, Jean Wahl of Eau Claire; uncle Roy and aunt Jane Randen of Kalamazoo, Mich.; aunts Ethel Leggie and Elaine Sturgis and uncles, George and Larry Sturgis; nephews Aaron, Adam, Aric, Alex, Andy and Jared; niece Brianna and cousins Michelle Smith, Ariel and Orion Warden, and Todd, Brad, Cory Starin.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jodean (Sturgis) Randen; grandparents, Katherine and LaVerne Randen, Harriet and LaVerne Swan, Jeanette Sturgis, and uncle Bill Wahl.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday July 25, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire. Pastor Randy Olson will officiate. Burial will take place later that afternoon in the Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire at 2 p.m., Friends may call at the church Friday morning from 10 a.m., until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
