For Fossler, aka Lady Katherine, her life changed dramatically, when she lost her job as a church administrator in the fall of 2008. Sensing her mom's need for a pick-me-up her daughter took her to a new type of fitness class to lift her spirits. It was a pole dancing class. Fossler's life changed dramatically as a result and her journey is reflected in the book.

"It was a week after I lost my job," said Fossler. "I remember being mortified but it was during that class that my life changed.

"I discovered it was fun, exciting," said Fossler. "That is when I started to obsess about bringing it to women."

Fossler opened her fitness studio in Hudson six short months after she lost her job. During that time she taught herself how to pole dance, passed an extensive certification process and set her sights on opening a studio which would be a safe, welcoming place for women to learn and practice.

"It was a huge personal and financial risk," said Fossler, who husband was on board immediately. "He said 'I'm on board."

That was over three years ago. In January she opened a second studio in Eagan, Minn., and now has a staff of ten.

"Many weekends we have up to eight parties," said Fossler, who offers different types of events, which are popular for brides and women who want an introduction to pole dancing.

"I felt I had to bring this to other women," said Fossler. "Sometimes they change inside first. I've seen women undergo transformation in so many ways, shapes and forms. It has been special to see them."

In 2011, Fossler attended an eWomenNetwork conference.

"It was women that I aspire to be like," said of joining the organization and attending the conference. It was during that conference her own inspirational story was noted.

"I succeeded in spite of the odds," said Fossler. "I knew I did not want to go back into the church administration business."

The founder of eWomenNetwork, Sandra Yancey told Fossler, "I want you to be in my book."

"Succeeding In Spite of Everything," features over 35 stories about and by women entrepreneurs.

"It is just super inspiring," said Fossler. "I see myself in every chapter.

"The best part about my studio is watching women become themselves, free to experience their full feminine essence," said Fossler in the book.

"I always just wanted to make a difference," said Fossler. Lady Katherine is hosting a fall open house Friday, Sept. 28, from 5-9 p.m. The book will be available at Lake Katherine. For more details, go to www.lady-katherine.net The Hudson studio is located at 1920 Crestview Drive.
