Junior Scott Tolzien will start at quarterback for Wisconsin in its season opener against Northern Illinois next Saturday night in Madison.

Coach Bret Bielema announced the choice after last night's practice.

Redshirt freshman Curt Phillips will still get some playing time against the Huskies and the amount will be determined over the next week of practices.

Senior Dustin Sherer is the No. 3 quarterback.

He started the Badgers' final seven games last year. Bielema said Tolzien has done the best job of maintaining his poise and he's a steady performer who doesn't get rattled.

But Bielema said all three quarterbacks have handled themselves well at the Badgers' pre-season camp.
