Ken Heiser retires after 35-plus years in banking

After a career of more than 35 years in banking, Ken Heiser, market president of Associated Bank in Hudson, has announced his retirement. Heiser will continue to assist Associated and its customers in a part-time role beginning this month. An open house in Heiser's honor is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at Associated Bank, 307 Second St. in downtown Hudson. The public is welcome.

"Ken always puts our customers and his colleagues first," said Stephen Bianchi, regional president of Associated Bank. "He has performed every job at the highest level and has been a vital part of the community. We wish him the best in retirement."

Heiser began his career in banking more than 35 years ago at the First National Bank of St. Paul. He held a variety of positions at the First National Bank of St. Paul prior to being named executive vice president of the First National Bank of Hudson in 1979.

Heiser was elected president and CEO of First National Bank of Hudson in 1981 and was named market president for Associated Bank in June 2007 when Associated Banc-Corp acquired First National.

Heiser is a graduate of Dickinson State University, North Dakota. He was named Dickinson State University Alumni Fellow-School of Business and Management in 2005. Heiser is also a graduate of The American Bankers Association Commercial Lending School and ABA's Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He has held a number of ABA council positions and is a past member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Bankers Association.

Heiser currently serves as vice chair of the Hudson Health Foundation. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Phipps Foundation and is active in the Hudson Rotary Club. Heiser was the founding chair and past president of the Hudson Area Development Corp. and the St. Croix Economic Development Corp. Previously, he served on the boards of Hudson Memorial Hospital, the YMCA, The Phipps Center for the Arts, and the Hudson Community Foundation (founding chair).

In 2005, Heiser was recognized as Banker of the Year by the Northwestern Financial Review, and he was named Wisconsin's "Small Business Financial Services Advocate of the Year" by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1994.
