Kiwanis Club forms in Hudson
A group of civic-minded citizens from the Hudson area is in the process of forming a new Kiwanis Club in Hudson. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Hudson recently met at Keys Cafe for the organizational meeting and it was determined that the club will meet at the Hudson Pizza Hut on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help communities in countless ways. Each community's needs are different -- so each Kiwanis club is different.
Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis Club, no matter where in the world it's located. Members stage nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $107 million every year for communities, families and projects. Kiwanis Clubs also sponsor a Kiwanis family club -- K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; CKI clubs university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
In addition to serving, Kiwanis members have fun. Members make new friends by being part of a club where they attend meetings and participate in social events. Kiwanis clubs also provide networking opportunities for professionals. Members meet new people from their region and the world through service projects, fundraising and by attending district and international conventions.
