Klein takes over as North Hudson board president
George Klein took over the helm as president of the North Hudson Board of Trustees last week during the annual re-organization meeting.
Klein, who ran unopposed in the April 7 election, took the position held by Larry Larsen for the past six years. Larsen, citing family obligations, declined to run for another term.
The situation created an opening to fill the trustee post Klein formerly held. Incumbent trustees Marc Zappa, Joe Cothern and Colleen O'Brien-Berglund all ran unopposed.
Klein appointed and swore in Daryl Standafer to fill the vacancy at the April 21 meeting. Standafer will serve a one-year term.
Klein also took over as chair of the finance committee aided by Standafer, Cothern and Jim Thomas.
Joe Cothern moved from chair of the Public Works Committee to take over the Public Safety Committee. He was joined by Zappa and O'Brien-Berglund.
Standafer became chair of the Public Works Committee to serve with Sandra Whalen and Zappa.
Thomas returned to head up the Public Welfare Committee joined by Whalen and O'Brien-Berglund.
New appointments to several other village committees, boards and commissions will be officially approved at the regular board meeting May 5.
