Lindemann moved to Hudson 26 years ago, from her native Iowa, when her husband Steve took a job in this region.

"I absolutely love this town," said Lindemann, who has two children, Anna, age 12 and Ashley, 18 who is a HHS graduate in her freshman year at the University of Minnesota.

It was during Ashley's graduation that the seed to purchase Lavender Thymes sprouted. Lindemann's father was in town for the event.

"My dad encouraged me to consider the purchase after I told him about it (Lavender Thymes) being for sale," said Lindemann. "I have always worked hard and now I needed to do something for myself. I have always loved this store."

Lavender Thymes was founded 23 years ago when Jean Kelley opened the doors. It has expanded three times.

"The early concept of cross merchandising is what the store is based on," said Kelley. "Our final build-out was to accommodate such a mix, with a larger clothing area and the gift boutiques."

The store currently offers premium denim, womens clothing, fashion forward accessories, home and bath fragrances, books, stationary, gourmet food and kitchen accessories along with children's gifts and books.

"Most of all I will miss the customer relationships," said Kelley, who will stay on for an indefinite transition period to assist Lindemann. "I have a really good feeling about Michele. She is well known in the community and customer orientated."

"Lavender Thymes was always the place to come," said Lindemann. "It's always been a store I loved in downtown Hudson. It is one of the thumb prints of the community and it represents our town."

Lindemann, has worked in the retail/grocery field in Hudson since 1998 so she is no stranger to the market.

The changes will be minimal according to Lindemann.

"Any additions will benefit the store," she said. Lindemann has already brought in a couple of new jewelry lines and will be adding more in the area of children's gifts.

Lavender Thymes is located at 512 Second Street. They are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the store at 715-386-3866. A website is under construction.
