Leo E. McAleavey, 87, of River Falls, died Monday, Feb. 18, at Prescott Care Center.
He was born on June 16, 1920, the son of William and Mary (Webster) McAleavey in Ellsworth.
Leo married Joyce Warren on Aug. 12, 1953, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. He worked for Ellsworth Creamery and later was self-employed as an independent trucking service hauling furniture, potatoes and cattle. The last 20 years before retiring, he was employed with Cemstone Redi-Mix Company.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Patty Nelson and Peggy (Steve) Rohl; sons, Dennis (Connie) McAleavey and Kevin (Becky) McAleavey; and 11 grandchildren, Eric, Adam and Shane McAleavey, Caitlin and Miranda McAleavey, Lance and Jared Nelson, Sara Rohl Anderson, Phillip, Travis and Dan Rohl; brother, LaVerne (Bernice) McAleavey; sisters, Annabelle Hauth and Grace Swenson; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; a brother, Francis; and son-in-law, Larry Nelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, Feb. 21, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls.
Burial service was at St. Bridget Cemetery.
His eight grandsons were pallbearers, and three granddaughters provided readings and offerings.
