Letter: Rowing club explains
The St. Croix Rowing Club is very grateful to the city of Hudson for renting the shed on St. Croix Street to us for boat storage. Of all the lakes and rivers in the area, the St. Croix River provides the perfect rowing venue with its clean water and spectacular vistas.
The St Croix Rowing Club was formed in 2002 as a non-profit (501(c)(3) organization with the mission of educating people about the sport of rowing and acting as good stewards of the St. Croix River. In accordance with our bylaws, the SCRC "is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, and to benefit the public."
The boat shed we rent is full to the rafters, literally, and if the Boosters were going to pursue another storage site, we wanted to express our interest in renting the additional space so that we can increase membership in our community organization. We don't want to leave anyone with the impression that we are trying to move the Boosters out. We truly appreciate the great contribution the Boosters make to the youth of Hudson. Our issue is simply that due to the nature of our sport, we must be near the water. If another storage venue becomes available for the Boosters, we are ready to rent the small white shed to store more boats.
Come join us at our open house on June 7, National Learn to Row Day, for a demonstration. And look for our article in the HSO regarding lessons and membership this season. See you on the water.
