Lions' Matthew Stafford sits out of practice as Detroit gets ready for Packers

It's looking more like the Green Bay defense will face veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper when the Packers host Detroit on Sunday.

Lions' rookie starter Matthew Stafford missed all of Thursday's practice, after having limited participation on Wednesday.

Stafford injured his right knee two weeks ago against Chicago, and he sat out last Sunday's Detroit loss to Pittsburgh.

Culpepper threw for 282 yards in that game, with a touchdown and an interception.

Also, the Lions' top receiver, Calvin Johnson, missed his second straight practice yesterday with a knee injury.

And all four starters on Detroit's defensive line were sidelined with various injuries, including former Packers Grady Jackson and Jason Hunter.

On the Packers' side, centers Jason Spitz and Scott Wells left practice early Thursday.

Spitz has a back problem, and Wells has a bad hamstring. The coaches say neither injury appears serious, and both players will be checked out today.

Left tackle Chad Clifton had his first full practice Thursday, as he comes off an ankle injury suffered a month ago.

Linebacker Brady Poppinga also had a full workout, after being out for most of the week with an illness.

The Packers are 2-2 coming into Sunday's contest.

The Lions are at 1-4, with a 17-game losing streak to the Packers on Wisconsin soil.
