Local student artist wins statewide recognition

Andrew Brooks at age 8 has already had the kind of recognition a lot of would-be artists dream about. But for the 8-year-old Willow River second-grader it might be just the beginning.

Brooks, the son of Gayle and Dan Brooks, was adopted from Russia when he was 17 months old. He was diagnosed with high-functioning autism when he was a little over 4 years old.
