Christian Sanda, age 11, of Hudson, broke three meet records to bring home three gold medals from the 2009 AAU West Coast Junior Olympic Games in Reno, Nev., over the 4th of July weekend.


Sanda, competing in the Pre-Midget Division, won the 100 meter dash in 13.61 seconds, the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 2.5 inches, and the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 2 inches.

All three marks are new AAU West Coast Junior Olympic records in the Pre-Midget Division and earned Sanda a spot at the AAU Junior Olympics National Meet in Des Moines, Iowa, July 27 - Aug. 8.

Sanda, who has also been bust playing baseball this summer, will be a fifth grader at Willow River Elementary School in the fall. He has been training in track and field with Team Woodbury since last winter and also competed in the AAU Indoor Nationals in Merrillville, Ind., in 2008.
