Man set to plead in Somerset stabbing
A man charged with multiple felony counts in the stabbing of a rural Somerset man earlier this month has been bound over for trial.
George Willie Elmore, 51, Somerset, appeared at a preliminary hearing in St. Croix County District Court Friday morning, March 9. Judge Howard W. Cameron set March 15 for an arraignment hearing when Elmore will plead to the charges before Judge Scott R. Needham.
Elmore was ordered to post a $100,000 cash bail March 6 on first degree attempted homicide, aggravated battery and reckless injury felony charges and misdemeanor possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.
The criminal complaint alleged on March 4 Timothy Burdick, 41, was stabbed by Elmore during a scuffle about 9:30 p.m. at Burdick's residence at 1952 County I in rural Somerset.
A female companion of Burdick's told sheriff's deputies Elmore confronted Burdick in the driveway and started a fight.
During the altercation, Burdick said he had been stabbed and told the woman to call for help. He was stabbed in the stomach and taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, the sheriff's report said.
