Knudson stated the goal at an April 21 City Council meeting in which he also said he would establish an energy task force to look for ways to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and electricity.

He said he would like City Administrator Devin Willi, City Finance Officer Betty Caruso, Public Works Department Lead Man Tom Zeuli, Public Works Committee Chairman Scot O'Malley and Public Safety Committee Chairman Lee Wyland to serve on the task force.

Knudson recommended delaying replacement of the City Hall boiler furnace and street lights on Carmichael Road until the city had investigated the most energy efficient ways to do it.

He indicated that the city would pursue grant money to help pay for energy-saving projects.
