Memorial Day ceremony draws large crowd

A large crowd of people gathered at Willow River Cemetery on a sunny Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day observance sponsored by American Legion Post 50 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Hudson Memorial Post 2115.

Former Mayor and Hudson insurance agent John Schommer gave the address.

Other participants in the ceremony included American Legion Post 50 Commander Gordon Knudson and VFW Post 2115 Chaplain Dave Kvarnes. Also involved were the Miss Hudson Royalty, members of Boy Scout troops 140 sand 213, the Legion-VFW Honor Guard and the Hudson High School Band under the direction of Ryan McCarthy. Playing taps were Elijah Baumgartner and Jacob Weaver from the HHS band.
