Menomonie men charged with assaulting Hudson woman
Two Menomonie-area men are facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a Hudson woman back in August.
Charged in Dunn County Court are Darin C. Kelley, 42, and Vernon Tolbert, 45. Both men live in the Menomonie area. A third man, Michael K. Scott, 35, also of Menomonie, was charged with a misdemeanor for failing to help a victim.
According to a story in the Eau Claire Leader Telegram this week, the 30-year-old woman was at the Hudson Bowling Center in Plaza 94 celebrating her husband's birthday. She went into the bathroom and when she came out she thought her party had left without her. The men offered to drive her to her sister's home in Hudson, but instead drove her to Tolbert's apartment in Menomonie, where the assault allegedly happened. The woman told authorities that she remembered being forced to the ground, thrown on a bed, bumping her head and cutting her hand during the course of the attack.
The men tell a different story and say sex with the woman was either initiated by her or consensual.
Their first court appearance is set for Nov. 10 in Dunn County.
