Minnesota Orchestra returns to Hudson
The Minnesota Orchestra returned to Hudson Monday evening, June 30, for its 26th free outdoor concert at the Lakefront Park band shell.
Associate Conductor Courtney Lewis said it was good to be back after last year's concert was cancelled because of a labor disagreement between the musicians and the orchestra management.
The audience of at least a couple of thousand people agreed, judging from the standing ovations at the end of the hour-long concert, which concluded with the popular "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky.
The orchestra played the march "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa for the encore, another tradition for the Hudson concert.
There were showers earlier in the day, but the hand sun broken out by the 7:30 p.m. start of the concert, making for a beautiful evening with temperatures in the low 70s.
