The annual Miss Hudson Pageant, "An Evening of Elegance...A lifetime of Excellence" was held July 2 at the Hudson High School auditorium.
This year, 17 young women vied for a spot on the 2009 court. During the course of the evening the candidates participated in the evening gown presentation, answered an onstage question drawn randomly and performed a dance number.
The top three candidates in ticket sales were Brookelle Bolf, Chelsea Johnson and Alanna Irwin, who earned a gift basket for selling the most tickets.
The event is sponsored by the city of Hudson and Slettin and Brettin Orthodontics. Working to make the event a success were committee members Mary Cardarelli, Christy Coulter, Maren Coulter, Linda Kluge, Todd Kluge and Bonnie Rost.
The pageant started in 1949 and has run every year since, except 1952, 1953 and 1969.
The new court includes Queen Alanna Irwin and Princesses Jamie Watts, Chelsea Johnson and Amber Krohn. They and their parents will represent Hudson for the next year in an assortment of events, including dozens of parades. The parents are Tom Irwin and Colleen Maloney, James and Karen Watts, Chad and Laura Johnson, Chuck and Margaret Krohn.
