New Richmond falls in summer tournament
Milwaukee Marquette will play West Bend West, and New Holstein will face Arcadia in today's (Thursday) semi-finals at the state high school summer baseball tournament.
Marquette, the defending champion, eliminated New Richmond 9-to-3 in yesterday's quarter-finals in Stevens Point.
Cody Torkelson suffered his first loss in 12 tries for the Tigers, giving up five runs in three-plus innings.
West Bend West won its 14th straight crushing Franklin 14-4.
Arcadia went two extra innings to eliminate Waukesha West, 2-0. Max Ferguson hit the game-winning triple as Arcadia won its first tournament game in 10 tries.
New Holstein edged Mequon Homestead 3-2. New Holstein scored all its runs in the seventh, to make its first semi-final in eight years.
Today's semi-finals start at 10:30 a.m. and the winners will play for the championship late this afternoon.
