In a relatively short meeting, the North Hudson Village Board approved the sale of a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor squad car, with installed equipment, to the village of Hustisford for $12,000.

The sale of the vehicle is the result of the village reducing the staffing of the department from five to four enforcement officers. That change took effect Jan. 1.

North Hudson Police Chief Mark Richert said the department asked $12,000 and two agencies submitted bids. The Hustisford bid was for the asking price; the second bid came from the city of Tomahawk for $11,600. Hustisford is a village of about 1,200 people located northwest of Milwaukee.

Property

The board also approved the splitting of a parcel of land in the town of St. Joseph. Village approval was needed because of an extraterritorial agreement.

The 28.64 acre parcel, owned by Ernie Betker, is located at 1212 Trout Brook Road N.

President's parting remarks

Village President George Klein made a few parting remarks. The March 26 meeting (moved from the normal April 2 date because of the election), was his last. He did not seek re-election.

"It's been a supreme honor to be a servant to the people of North Hudson," Klein said. "I couldn't have done it without the help of our incredible staff."

Village Administrator Gloria Troester praised Klein for his work.

"Thank you, George, for your service," Troester said. "You have always been very professional."

The new president is expected to be current Trustee Stan Wekkin who ran unopposed for the post in the April 2 election.

Other action

  • The board approved non-recurring claims for March totaling $26,829.54.
  • The board approved as temporary amended liquor license for the Mallalieu Inn in conjunction with its annual spring motorcycle run scheduled Saturday, April 13.
  • Trustees present at the meeting were Trustees Ted Head, Stan Wekkin, Daryl Standafer, Marc Zappa, Colleen O'Brien-Berglund and President Klein. Trustee Dan Ortner was absent.
