North Hudson man dies by suicide
A 66-year-old North Hudson man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence at 1130 10th St. N. late Thursday afternoon, July 10, according to North Hudson Police Chief Mark Richert.
Numerous police officers and sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood when a caller reported two shots being fired inside the home at about 5:30 p.m.
Neighboring homes were evacuated and the street in front of the residence was closed to traffic because the exact location of the shots - and the circumstances under which they were fired - were unknown initially.
The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department and Hudson Police Department assisted the North Hudson police in securing the area. Members of the St. Croix County Emergency Response Unit, armed with a ballistic shield, entered the residence and found the body of Hans Jorgen Kordt.
Kordt had recently moved into the new home in The Ridges subdivision north of Krattley Lane and had also reportedly suffered from some serious health issues.
