The winning girls serve during their junior year in parades and other public appearances as goodwill ambassadors for the North Hudson community.

Current royalty members are Paige Kazak, Erin Hanson and Alyssa Yuengst. Candidates must live in the Hudson School District but do not need to attend Hudson schools. Only the first 25 applications received will be accepted.

Pepper Fest is held in North Hudson the third weekend in August, which this year is Aug. 14-16. The 2009 royalty is crowned the last day of the festival and serves from then through the 2010 North Hudson Pepper Fest.

Sponsorship

Interested girls are encouraged to seek a sponsor in the Hudson area.

If businesses would like to sponsor a girl, the cost is $125. Sponsors may also need to supply a vehicle for the candidate at the North Hudson Pepper Fest Grande Day parade Aug. 15 and may also need to provide signs for both sides of the car with the candidate's name and business name.

The deadline for applications is May 22. Forms can be picked up at the Hudson Star-Observer office or from the current royalty.

For more information on candidate sponsorship, call Rita Nichols, (715) 386-8169, or Kathy Wente, (651) 260-8076.

Any correspondence can be sent to Candidate Chairperson, North Hudson Pepper Fest, PO Box 432, Hudson WI 54016 by May 22. Businesses will receive additional information on their candidate after she has been accepted.
