Comedy with Minnesota flair

The St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is staging the Midwest premiere of "A Don't Hug Me County Fair" weekends Feb. 27-May 16 at the Best Western Hudson House Inn. Two noon lunch matinees are scheduled Sunday, March 8, and Saturday, April 18. The play involves the Bunyan County Fair, bar owners Gunner and Clara Johnson, the county fair fishing contest and the Miss Walleye queen competition. Trouble develops when Clara, waitress Bernice and Gunner's sister all vie to be Miss Walleye, and Gunner bets the bar he'll win the fishing contest. Yoga classes continue

Hatha yoga classes continue at The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St., for practitioners of all levels. Renee Lindquist teachers beginning yoga Tuesdays and Fridays, 9-10:30 a.m. and Vinyasa Flow yoga classes Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m. Classes are onging and may be taken or started at any time. Vaudeville valentine

Festival Theatre in downtown St. Croix Falls is putting on a tribute to Vaudeville on Valentine's Day, Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Frostbite Follies. The event features music, juggling, dancing, rope twirling and more. Cost is $25 per person and includes dessert and flowers for the ladies. Retired locals appear in book

Retired River Falls educators Sue and Richard Beckham have essays published in Susan Thurin's book "Retiring Minds: Life After Work." The Beckhams and Thurin will appear Monday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union St. Thurin will comment on the challenges of the retirement years and how to publish memoirs; the Beckhams will read from their essays. Wyman Series resumes

The Wyman Series for the spring semester at UW-River Falls features: --Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m., the Twin Cities Gospel Choir.

--Tuesday, April 7, at 8 p.m., the Storm Front Barbershop Quartet.

--Wednesday, April 29, at 10 a.m., the day-long, outdoor Unity in the Community festival will begin in the University Center Mall. The free diversity event includes performances, food for purchase and more. Admission per event is $5 for adults and $3 for ages 6-18. University students and children 5 and under are admitted free. Audition for 'Gooney Bird'

River Falls Community Theatre will hold auditions for "Gooney Bird Greene," a play by Kent R. Brown based on the book by Lois Lowry, at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 3-4, at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union St. Rehearsals begin Feb. 9; performances are March 27, 28, 29, April 3 and 4. At least 12 children are needed (four boys, eight girls) in grades 3-6 to play Gooney Bird and her classmates. Adults and older youth will play her teacher, parents and other characters.
