Octagon House, two others open Friday
The St. Croix County Historical Society is hosting its annual Light Up Night Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. The evening includes tours of the Octagon House and two others in the neighborhood, the Phipps Inn across the street and the John Lee House a few blocks away.
The Octagon House Museum will be offering guided, lamp-lit tours. The Phipps Inn Bed and Breakfast will be offering tours of the main level given by owners Richard and Mary Ellen Cox. The Queen Anne-style mansion will also be decked out for the holidays. The John Lee house, 1319 Fourth St., is also part of the festivities. Lee's former home has been renovated by Chris Meier and Jeff Quarbery.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for students and $2 for children 12 and under -- one ticket includes all three homes. Tickets may be purchased at the Octagon House on the night of the event. Wine, cheese and cookies will be served at the Octagon House, and the Carriage House Gift Shop will be open for shopping.
For more information, contact the Octagon House at (715) 386-2654.
The Octagon House will be open for walk-in tours on the weekends in December, Saturdays from noon to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Groups of 10 or more may make a reservation for a guided tour any time.
