On Our Watch: The Genocide in Darfur
The world vowed "never again" after the genocide in Rwanda and the atrocities in Srebrenica, Bosnia. Then came Darfur. Over the past four years, at least 200,000 people have been killed, 2.5 million driven from their homes, and mass rape has been used as a weapon in a brutal campaign supported by the Sudanese government.
In the video "On Our Watch" the question is asked why the United Nations and its members once again failed to stop the slaughter.
Dr. Jackie Brux, development economist specializing in Africa, founder and consultant to UWRF-AID, and professor of economics at UW-River Falls, will be presenting the film "On Our Watch" and discussing the situation from 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Kinnickinnic Theater, 3rd Floor, University Center on campus.
The community is welcome to attend.
