Packers can clinch a playoff spot Sunday, but they'll need help
The Green Bay Packers can clinch a playoff spot by beating the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Lambeau Field. But they'll need help, after the New York Giants crushed Washington 45-to-12 Monday night.
A Giants' loss would have put the Packers in charge of their own destiny this weekend.
But for the Pack to clinch a playoff spot this week, the Giants would have to lose or tie against Carolina - or Dallas would have to lose to the Redskins.
The Packers can still make the playoffs themselves by running the table - which means they'd also have to beat Arizona in their regular season finale on January third in Glendale Arizona.
Green Bay is 9-and-5 after their one-point loss at Pittsburgh last Sunday. Coach Mike McCarthy did not report any new injuries from that contest.
But he says two players could miss some practice time this week. Linebacker Nick Barnett aggravated a knee problem against the Steelers, and nose tackle Ryan Pickett is still getting over a bad hamstring suffered two weeks ago against Baltimore.
