Packers safety, defensive end doubtful for Arizona game
Green Bay Packers' coach Mike McCarthy said today that safety Derrick Martin will be doubtful for Sunday's regular season finale at Arizona.
Martin and back-up defensive end Michael Montgomery both had ankle sprains in yesterday's 48 to 10 home rout of Seattle. Montgomery is also expected to be listed as doubtful.
McCarthy said nose tackle Ryan Pickett will continue getting treatment through Wednesday on his lingering hamstring injury - and he could return to practice on Thursday.
The Packers and Arizona have both clinched playoff spots - which raises the question about how much each coach will rest his players this week.
McCarthy said he won't go into it publicly. He says it's part of the Packers' game plan for the Cardinals - but he also said it's a different situation from 2007, when the Pack rested its starters in the final weekend when they played Detroit.
Depending on how the Packers and other teams do Sunday, they'll face any one of four opponents in the first round of the playoffs - Arizona, Minnesota, Dallas and Philadelphia.
